When Diane got healthy and happy she got fat. When she became a better person, she gained weight as a direct consequence of her accepting the happiness in her life. It’s so rare in a world that equates fatness with unhealthiness.

the way the writers portrayed diane’s depression in episode ten was fucking phenomenal. first of all the animation style was so fitting because for diane everything was black and white. either she wrote the novel and succeeded or she didn’t and she failed herself and her past. but then they introduced ivy and she became the only colorful thing about diane’s thoughts, and we see that come full circle when diane realizes she can get her message across by writing a fun detective story instead of one about her trauma. i also love that they showed some of the side effects of medication like having trouble concentrating, but portrayed diane in an even worse state when she stopped taking them. like you can tell they wanted to make it clear that while medication might not solve everything, it sure as hell helps. i just really appreciate the details that went into the episode because it made every scene so damn realistic and relatable.
